I'm with you...after owning 3 different Nvidia cards and then trying an ATI, I prefer the support and functionality of the Nvidia over ATI. I have to run 3rd party drivers (Omega) to make some newer games actually work!..Next build I'm going back.

42 inch LCD? Not even considering the refresh time on that bad boy, I bet that'd be almost impossible to play on. I mean, that's just TOO big. A lot of my friends complain that they can't play on my 21 inch CRT because they can't see the whole thing without moving their head. I can't imagine how far back you'd have to sit to see the whole screen on a 42 inch LCD.

Only reason why I have replaced my graphics cards or processors was to make sure I have been up to date.
Well, until ATI releases dual vid card power and cards that are not crap and need constant updates... NVIDIA will reign supreme.

the dell power supply will be on the wimpy side
call their tech support and ask if the 600gt will strain the power supply of your model pc
you will be very happy with the 6600GT as it will make a huge difference
it takes an external power plug but it does not have to be dedicated to the card (it can be split as it is not too power hungry)
mine came with an included splitter but my supply had several extras hanging around so i used one of them
EDIT
mine is leadtec also and came with prince of persia and i think splinter cell plus the usual utilities and dvd maker
if you get a power supply treat it as an investment and dont get a cheapie as you will regret it
i use ANTEC power supplies which have served well for some time
presently using a antec true power 380 and the one i am presently working on gets the antec true power 430

Umm... Better than Pentium 4? Yeah Okay... Not to bash you, But I dought that and My P4 was cheaper than all the AMD's even the 64bit AMD's at at Fry's Electronics... (It's a second home when I have money.) Plus, for what I picked up a 3.4ghz intel with motherboard & memory I couldn't touch any of the AMD's motherboard Processor combos without memory. Besides that AMD is Phasing out anything not 64bit on the processors & boards.

not true at all
the duron is going and the athlon xp will replace the athlon as the main budget chip which will last for at least a few years more
you have to consider that the 64 bit market at the present is small and will not be the recognized assumed processor for years especially without software and a 64 bit os to run it on most pcs
considering the number of people 3 years from now who will still be 32 bit they will have to provide or lose company breaking market share
and the latest top cpu shootout from maximum pc shows AMD a clear winner over intels EXTREME EDITION pentium 4 in spite of running a gig slower than the p4

I'm sorry, but I've burnt up 2 AMD's 1 a XP the other Athlon, neither held up to the 1 I have now. I run processor killing programs (Multi-tasking all the time) and the Intel has out run the AMD so far. Of course I do realize that the average user thinks that AMD is better by what the bench mark is, but what about the amout of time it is used over. I burned up 2 AMD in about 1 year each and 1 year plus later my Intel is still kickin' and I give it just as much love.. In fact a little more. (NOTE: I don't overclock my PC I think it's a waste of time.) It's a matter of what you have used and how much you've used it. This is my 10th motherboard and 4 computer since having a 486 33Mhz. I think I know what works and what to look for.
